Beauty in Our Yard

With spring here, our yard is really filling in, thanks to Ashley's hard work last year in re-landscaping it all. Please come visit us in Gilbert!

On the hunt...

It's April and the McLeods are on the hunt...
I'm after the weeds in the yard (and these evil briars that are reaching up to latch onto the defenseless trees). There's a lot of satisfaction to be had in pulling weeds, I've discovered.
Ashley is after the carpenter bees that are drilling dime-size holes into our house (his collection of the slain bees is on our front porch).
And Max, our beloved rat terrier, should more accurately be called the snake terrier, having siezed a snake tonight and chomping off its head.
It's an eventful April out here in Gilbert...

I Wish You Enough

Sometimes e-mail forwards can be meaningful...
Here's a classic piece from one:

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

Remember the Alamo! My trip to San Antonio, TX

I went to San Antonio for the Association of Tutoring Profession conference, March 25-28, 2006. While there I got to do a little sightseeing. The Riverwalk area, Alamo, La Villita, and Mexican Market are espiecially interesting. The Alamo...it IS small--but also very beautiful, particularly the gardens behind the actual building. There was a Caesar Chavez parade and United Farm Workers rally at the Alamo the day I was there. Some young kids did the traditional dances. The Riverwalk really is cool...miles to walk on. Julie Holliday (my traveling partner) and I took a riverboat cruise--$6.50 for a 30 minute ride that covered the history and highlights of the Riverwalk. Definitely worth our time!In La Villita, there were 6 weddings on the Saturday that we were there. Here's one of the brides we saw. Just minutes before this, she was walking down the cobbled streets with her dress hiked up above her knees.
And I even found a McLeod's sign!
