A Levi Perspective

Levi is getting to be the age where I'm starting to see the person he is becoming, personality-wise, interest-wise, and ability-wise. Yesterday he amazed me with creating these really cool designs with his blocks. He did these all on his own. So maybe he'll have some of that artistic/design bent like Ashley and I. Regardless, he makes me proud!
The designs are very methodical. I sent a picture to my designer friend Amanda of the middle 4-level one below and she agreed. In her words "definitely interesting in form, structure and color pairings. The real kicker is the alignment of those colors." There are days when Levi seems to antagonize Mason more than usual and his behavior grates on my nerves; however, seeing this "art" that he created reminded me he is an amazing little 3 1/2 year old, full of life and a blooming imagination.

After I took the pictures of these blocks, he wanted to take some pictures himself--so the remainder on this post are shot by Levi.

Up-close shot of Porcupine and Dumbo. Since Christmas, Levi  has added Porcupine and Beach Club (his name for his green Club Penguin) to his group of "best animal friends." They sleep with him every night; they are in his arms when he runs into Mason's room in the morning; they come downstairs; and he imagines them going on adventures.
He still loves his bumpy blanket, too, so his arms get pretty full at times!

Levi's Dale Jr. bank.
Books on the bookshelf.
Closet door.
He probably took 50 pictures but these were the most clear. I'm sure he would love a kids camera but using mine (with my supervision) produces better results so we'll stick with what we have. Today he learned to use the mouse on the computer and loved playing the Curious George hide-n-seek counting game on PBS. How neat!

Christmas Day

Christmas morning came early at our house, not because the boys were chomping at the bit to see the gifts from Santa (we still didn't overemphasize this part of Christmas because it's kind of nice to not make it such a big deal)....but early because Mason had been taking a steroid to help with wheezing that wouldn't go away. He was up at 5:30 but I managed to keep him upstairs and quiet until 6 when Levi woke up.

It was fun to come down the stairs with them and see what they thought. Levi immediately went to his stocking, dumped it out, and found a Dum-Dum. Yum. He didn't even realize he had a bike for several minutes until we pointed it out! Mason found it, though!
Checking out Santa's eaten cookies and leftover Chick-fil-A lemonade.
The lighting was perfect on our tree!
The boys testing out their new toys...Mason got a wheelbarrow because he loves to work outside and Levi moved up to a big boy bike. Santa found a deal on the bike...2 bikes for $40 on Craigslist. The other bike is a dirt-bike looking bicycle. Not sure what we're going to do with that, but hey!
Santa gave Mason a harmonica. He LOVED it. Check out his first performance.

After all of the presents could be inspected, I made pancakes and then we hopped in the car and drove to my parents (3.5 hr drive). Along the way we ate at an Asian buffet in Rock Hill...it's always wild to see who is actually out on Christmas Day...the place was packed. We arrived in Ferguson around 3:30. The boys were happy to be at their Papa and GinGin's.
Christmas evening we went to my Uncle Jack and Jeanette's house to celebrate Christmas with the McNeil clan. We had a great time seeing everyone while enjoying some soup and sandwiches.
Aunt Donna and Ashley talking (I think about places to see trains in Wilkesboro).
My cousins Heather and Lewis. Love these two!
Another room shot.
We had a great time in NC--Ashley and I snuck away for lunch in Boone, a friend of mine from high school brought by a picture frame I had asked him to make (it's amazing--come see it), and Papa and Ashley went to  the NCSU bowl game in Charlotte. Wednesday morning we loaded back up to come home. Isabelle, one of Papa's dogs, decided she wanted to see SC so she jumped in. But then she realized she would miss the heaven of Mitchell's Fief and hopped out.
Hope everyone else had a good Christmas vacation!
