Boys Will Be BOYS

I can't count how many times folks have told me "boys will be boys" over the past three years. But it's true...boys will be boys and here are some pictures to prove it. These are our boys being the boys they are.

Lately Levi has really enjoyed going in to see Mason when he wakes up in the morning or after a nap. Mason loves it, too. One of my favorite times with Mason is when he's happily sitting in his crib, babbling to me about all sorts of stuff (that I usually can't understand but if you know Mason, you know that he speaks loudly with a lot of feeling!). A few weeks ago, Levi upped the ante on visiting Mason and proceeded to put ALL of the toys that were in Mason's room (as well as some that were on the landing) IN Mason's crib. Mason LOVED it.

Avalanche of toys and he's so happy.
One of Levi's other new activities is organizing the pillows in a formation he calls "pillow pinestraw." Can you tell we're a landscaping family? :o) I love seeing how Levi's mind works when it comes to organization. He's been lining up cars for a long time but now he is much more methodical.
Side note: We have hot peppers and tomatoes now in the garden (cukes and squash are done). Although we don't eat a lot of hot peppers, I did string them up to hang from the kitchen window.
And here's another boys will be boys moment...this past Sunday our oldest nephew Weston got baptized. It was a special occasion (part of their church's summer picnic at Lake Murray). We had a great time playing beforehand.
I know Carey is so proud of Weston. We certainly are!
Mason is happy, too!
Here's Weston getting ready for the Baptist dunk.

The youngest three hanging out in the sandboat.
And while we waited for the LONG line to get food to shorten, I took Levi and Mallory to jump in the bouncy castles. What fun!
This is also a good post to give more updates on the boys. They had their 3 year old and 15 month well-checks last week. By the numbers...
Levi is 38 1/2 inches tall and weighs 33 lbs.
Mason is 31 3/4 inches tall and weighs 20 lbs (probably more than that but he was wiggling on the scale).

Both are pretty healthy for the most part. Mason had a sore throat at the visit but it wasn't strep and he was feeling better a few days later. Levi had a UTI a month ago and the pediatric urologist asked that he have a renal ultrasound and VCUG in a few weeks. Hoping everything goes OK with that---seems to be fairly routine to have these tests done.

Sleeping: Levi has basically given up his nap (though as I write this, it sounds like he has actually used his quiet time to sleep--yay). He really still needs a nap because going to bed earlier doesn't seem to fully recharge his batteries. Mason on the other hand, takes 2 naps consistently--at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Now he and Levi usually take a bath together at night and Ashley and I tag-team on the story-reading and putting down.

Potty training--Levi basically has this mastered. Another yay! He wears big boy underwear all the time except for bedtime and is getting much better about going on his own or letting us know. Proud of him for this!

Playing--the boys will play together a little bit now. Yesterday they played with PlayDoh for 15 minutes (a record of their time together). I know that they're boys and they will probably beat each other up from time to time and get on each other's nerves--but I do believe that it is important for them to love each other and appreciate the relationship they have as brothers. Some days are HARD but then there are little moments like those when I catch a glimpse of them being good to each other--that really lifts my spirits.
