After experiencing the 15+ inches of snow in Virginia at Christmas, I thought that was going to be it for the McLeods and white stuff this winter. Not so! It snowed 5+ inches in Columbia last Friday. Big fluffy snow. And it was even more perfect because 1) power did not go out, 2) it made Levi so excited, and 3) it was basically melted by Saturday afternoon. The only downside was Ashley had to work (a lot, as in Friday night until 2 a.m. scraping parking lots for customers and then out again by 6 a.m. Saturday). Nevertheless, here's our SC snow adventure!
Here's Levi just as the snow began to fall on Friday afternoon around 4 p.m.
This picture is so cool because it looks like Levi is praising God for the snow falling (I think he was mostly trying to touch it).
Our backyard Saturday morning.
Front yard Saturday morning...winter wonderland!
Levi got a lot of practice in using a shovel in the snow...perfect because snow almost sticks to the shovel, whereas dirt always falls off!

Earlier in the winter I read about this idea of taking food coloring and mixing it with water in a spray bottle...and wa-la, instant snow paint! This kept Levi occupied for at least 1/2 hour and most of our backyard snow was blue as a result.
And because it was Valentine's weekend, Levi had a party at school on Thursday where he and his classmates exchanged cards and candy (and he gave everyone Matchbox cars). I put tape on the back of the cards and he put them above his table.
Meet Tweedledee and Tweedledum...my new washer and dryer combo. My entire adult life I've been lucky enough to not have bought laundry machines because someone has handed them down. Unfortunately, the front loader set that Carey gave us (about 9 years old) kicked the bucket a week or so ago. After a lot of research, I chose these LG models. They're great! And Levi is a good helper by placing his clothes in the washer!
My 31st birthday was Monday. The McLeod/Harman family celebrated with a family dinner at Bonefish Grill. What a nice time we had!! All the kids were great and the food was delicious!
Levi loved his broccoli and chicken!
And man, I loved my birthday dessert! I'm usually not a chocolate fan but this pregnancy has caused some cravings in that department. This dessert was so huge that it easily fed all of us!
And a side note...if you're in need of pecans for baking, I highly recommend ordering from Sunnyland Farms. I recently bought 6 lbs of pecan pieces (meaning I don't have to chop them to use in banana nut bread, oatmeal or other recipes). Shipping is included and the service is super speedy. Plus, it's family-owned and they have a great catalog!
